Installation & Application

Static clings apply to a clean, smooth glass surface without any adhesive — they hold in place using static cling. Proper surface preparation and careful application ensure a smooth, bubble-free finish and a strong, repositionable hold.

Surface Preparation

• The glass surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust, wax, and grease.
• Any residue or old film must be removed so the cling can hold properly.
• Static clings hold best on smooth, non-textured glass.
• Freshly cleaned glass must be completely dry before application.

Best Hold & Conditions

Static clings hold best on smooth, clean interior glass at room temperature. Very dusty surfaces, textured glass, high humidity, or exterior exposure can reduce the static hold. For long-term or outdoor displays, an adhesive decal may be a better choice.

Artwork Guidelines

To achieve the best print quality, artwork should be prepared at the correct scale and with sufficient resolution. Important elements should be positioned safely away from edges and trim areas.

Recommended Resolution

• 150 dpi at final size for most window applications.
• Higher resolution may be required for graphics viewed at close range.
• Logos, text, and simple shapes should be supplied as vector artwork.
• Images downloaded from websites or screenshots are generally not suitable for printing.

Safe Area & Layout

Keep logos, text, and important elements within a safe area, away from the edges and any window frames or trim. Provide the final size and shape of each cling.

• Allow a minimum 6 mm bleed around the final size.
• Keep important elements at least 12 mm inside the safe area.
• Provide the final dimensions and shape of each cling.
• Avoid extremely fine details and small isolated elements on contour-cut clings.

Clear or White Cling

Static clings are available on clear (transparent) or white (opaque) cling material. Clear cling keeps unprinted areas see-through, and a white ink layer is used to keep colours opaque against daylight. White cling blocks the view in the printed areas and makes colours appear bold without white ink.

Prepress artwork verification can be performed before production. Artwork corrections, vectorization, and file reconstruction may be subject to additional charges.

Interior Application & Facing

Static clings are usually applied to the interior surface of the glass. They can be printed to read correctly from inside, or reverse-printed to read correctly from outside so passersby see the graphic through the window. The cling side goes against the glass.

Because clings rely on static rather than adhesive, they perform best indoors on smooth glass and are intended for temporary rather than long-term outdoor use.

Actual hold depends on glass smoothness, cleanliness, temperature, and humidity.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Static clings can be cleaned, removed, and reused. Handle them by the edges, keep the cling side free of dust, and store them flat to preserve the static hold and keep the graphics looking their best.

Removal, Reuse & Storage

• Peel gently from a corner to remove.
• Reapply the cling side to smooth, clean glass.
• Store flat on the backing liner or a smooth surface.
• Keep the cling side clean and dust-free to maintain the hold.

Expected Lifespan

Static clings are designed for short- to medium-term use and can be reused multiple times when handled and stored properly. Their static hold gradually weakens if the cling side collects dust or is applied to textured or contaminated glass. They are not intended as a permanent or long-term outdoor solution.
